Thank The Universe
because the Universe is friendly.
because the Universe is friendly.

I was teaching my class about comedy and politics when I came across this scene from The Great Dictator. I was stunned by his eloquence and by the contemporary need for this message.
I am thankful for those people who use their power and fame for the good of others.
As Charlie Chaplin once said “I can’t help it. I’m for people”

I was lucky enough to be sent this video by my good friend Tracy. It made me stop and appreciate how lucky I am and the responsibility we share to make the world a fairer place for all.
Give, share , love, laugh, assist, strive, smile

The great thing about each New Year is that I have time to consider where I am, where I want to go and to give thanks for all of the blessings of the previous year.
So, this time, I would like to give thanks for my friends who have brightened the year with laughter, my family who bring a sense of adventure to everyday and the creative souls who fill the world with stories, pictures, music, movement and warmth.
Have a happy 2010. Enjoy the little things….

Round we go for another year

Some people say that if you can count your true friends on one hand you are doing very well.
So, I just want to thank the universe for my wonderful friends, funky music and a great 40th birthday. Yes I’m feeling the love.

Every once in a while something comes along to remind me what really matters. So today I would like to thank the universe for that simple and essential gift of good health. I’d also like to wish for the same blessing for all of those whom I love.
What are you thankful for?

Sometimes I think that I should avoid the news. Perhaps by blocking everything out and becoming totally immersed in my immediate world I could achieve some level of blissful happiness unknown in the busy minds of the mildly well informed.
Then again, if I stop for a moment and think about this beautiful big world on which six and a half billion people are currently hurtling though space, it seems silly to naval gaze and block out everything beyond my neighbourhood. Of course I wouldn’t defend most of the media when so much seems misleading. But there must be a happy medium.
So, today I would like to thank the universe for the company of so many fellow travellers on Space Ship Earth. It may be a little crowded and if you are not in First Class the chances of getting a decent meal are not good. Maybe if everyone in First and Business Class could just go beyond the curtains and share a little of their food and drink we could start a party!
Believe me, there is always someone interesting to meet!
Where are we going? I’m not sure. But if you wait until the lights go down there will be the most amazing panorama of stars presented as part of our in flight presentation. Or stretch out under the warm rays of the sun; re-fuel and regenerate. Even in Economy class there is still room to stretch.
In the case of an emergency…… do your best, help out the people around you and be grateful that you are on Space Ship Earth and not simply in space.
Before you go, relax to the sounds that humans make: our wonderful, inexplicable and spiritual music. Heralding our existence to the universe as the wild ride continues.
Please take the time to listen to this music while whizzing through the Universe.
Peace and love from seat 23C,
Ged.

I often remind my children to say “thank you” to people and count their blessings.
So I thought I should make this page available to everyone as a place where we can share the things that we are grateful for.
If you would like to add to this page simply go to the end of this post and click on the comments tag.
I’ll go first.
